About the Job

The Director of Engineering Operations is a key leadership role focused on optimizing the efficiency, effectiveness, and performance of the engineering department. They bridge the gap between engineering, operations, and business goals, ensuring that engineering efforts are aligned with overall company objectives. This role will report to CTO of Bitdeer.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Engineering Process Optimization:
    • Analyze existing engineering processes and workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
    • Implement process improvements, such as Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices, to enhance speed, quality, and productivity.
    • Develop and maintain documentation for engineering processes and best practices.
  • Resource Management:
    • Oversee the allocation of engineering resources, including personnel, budget, and tools, to ensure optimal utilization and alignment with project priorities.
    • Forecast resource needs and manage capacity planning to meet current and future demands.
    • Implement resource tracking and reporting mechanisms to monitor utilization and identify potential shortages.
  • Performance Measurement & Reporting:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of engineering operations, such as project delivery timelines, defect rates, and resource utilization.
    • Track and analyze performance data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to optimize efficiency.
    • Generate regular reports and dashboards to communicate performance insights to stakeholders.
  • Tooling & Infrastructure:
    • Evaluate, select, and implement engineering tools and technologies to support development, testing, deployment, and monitoring activities.
    • Manage the engineering infrastructure, including development environments, testing labs, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of engineering infrastructure.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Collaborate closely with engineering managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities, processes, and resource allocation.
    • Facilitate communication and knowledge sharing within the engineering department and across the organization.
    • Communicate effectively with senior management, providing updates on engineering operations and performance.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • May lead a team of engineers focused on operational aspects, such as DevOps engineers or release engineers.
    • Mentor and coach engineers on best practices, process improvements, and career development.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering department.

How you will stand out:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in engineering operations, software development, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, Agile practices, and DevOps principles.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma.
  • Expertise in engineering tools and technologies, including CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and project management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
